The Mixed Space was launched in 2018 as a community-building space where multiracial and multiethnic creatives could explore their intersectional identities through conversations and group activities. Every month, Founder Lili Stiefel hosts a monthly meetup to discuss topics related to social justice and the arts. It was through these meetups that Lili was introduced to Alex Chester, Founder of Mixed Asian Media.
Mixed Asian Media (formerly known as Hapa Mag) was established in 2017 as a space to give voice to those with mixed Asian/Pacific Islander ancestry. Upon recognizing that this community is ever-expanding, their decision to rebrand was made in hopes of establishing a broader collective. In celebration of this, they present the inaugural Mixed Asian Media Fest. From September 15th – 19th, ticket holders will be treated to film screenings, theater, dance, discussions, and more.

A group of leaders and creatives who are at different stages of their careers discuss their perspectives and experiences. The conversation will focus on collaboration and sharing your vision in virtual spaces. The pandemic world has altered the way people go about creating work and community and this panel will explore new ways for you to connect, create, and persevere.
12 Steps to Starting a Project presented by The Mixed Space
Sept. 19 12-1:30 p.m. EST – Workshop
Overcome the barriers that have been holding you back from making your dream project a reality. Like many creatives, a lot of us have a million ideas running through our heads all the time. This workshop lays out a step-by-step process for how to get your projects out of your mind and into the world. Lili will provide hands-on guidance for making your dream into a reality.
Let’s Make Guidelines for Leaders of Online Spaces co-presented by The Mixed Space

Leaders of organizations who hold online events will share their takeaways and experiences. This roundtable was organized to provide attendees with great ideas for leading spaces in online communities.
